The online site will launch here by end of day on March 25th.
What is the public open house for?
Fifth Avenue has been identified as a top pedestrian fatality corridor in the state. Fifth Avenue between Concrete Street and the 5th/6th Avenue couplet experienced more than 80 crashes during a 2013–2016 collection of crash data. In an effort to improve pedestrian safety along this corridor, DOT&PF is installing a median barrier. Median barriers have been shown to significantly reduce the number of midblock crossings as seen in a detailed study by the Maryland Department of Transportation.
DOT&PF would like your feedback on the median barrier design! We will be hosting an in-person public open house on March 25, 2026. If you are unable to attend the open house, you can also give your feedback here online, March 25 through April 24, 2026.
Learn about the safety limitations and maintenance considerations we are working within, review the design options, and give us your feedback on the various options.
DOT&PF complies with Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. Individuals with disabilities who may need auxiliary aids, services, and/or special modifications to participate in this public meeting should contact Amy Burnett at 907.865.2220 or TDD number 711. Requests should be made at least 5 days before the accommodation is needed to make any necessary arrangements.
